Kevlar Storm Room Saves Joplin Woman’s Life Posted: 02 Jun 2011 07:44 AM PDT Joplin, Tuscaloosa, Georgia, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, and many other states have been ravaged by tornadoes this past year. Hundreds have died and thousands have been injured. Yet one woman survived as most in her subdivision died or were maimed. This post may sound like a commercial but it is amazing what a difference it made.
Innovations such as these can be expensive yet when you survive a tragedy like Diana Swenson did in Joplin the cost can be seen as inexpensive compared to the consequences. Real estate professionals though are caught in a catch 22 when discussing these shelters in a home being sold. There is a huge benefit to having a storm shelter of this magnitude. Yet, during the sales process who wants to introduce the concept of a tornado destroying the house they are buying. Either way, what peace of mind a shelter like this could bring in an area that is tornado prone. Thanks for reading this post.
