Sustainable Design Of Kerr House By Tony Owen Architects Posted: 26 Nov 2012 04:26 PM PST Tony Owen Architects designed the Kerr House which has sustainable design also. This sustainable house is located near the Tamarama beach, offering a wonderful view of the beach.
The eco construction building house has 3 bedrooms and family room at the upper level, while an open plan living, dining, and kitchen room at the lower level, also separated bedroom/study, laundry and guest bathroom. A garden is available at the rear part of the house, connected to the living room, providing large outdoor space extension. Good view of beach can be accessed from the upper level. The green architecture house adopted the passive house design. Glass louvers are used providing natural daylighting and natural ventilation for the house, supported by the timber battens as the cladding for the exterior. A large central glass enclosure is located in the middle of the house where the main stair is located. A large cantilevered concrete wing overhang creates protection from harsh lighting from the rear part. The use of this large overhang also creates large upper deck areas which may create another outdoor space for the house. The sustainable home may provide good integration between the building and the surroundings, also a good example of applied sustainable passive design. |
