Hidden Valley, a Sustainable Design of Prefab Vacation House Posted: 04 Aug 2012 09:36 AM PDT Hidden Valey is a prefab house, designed and built by Marmol Radziner Prefab. It is located at Moab, Utah, in the red rocks area. Actually it is a vacation house with sustainable design applied and good blending of outdoor-indoor environment.
The green building architecture design may provide good blends between outdoor and indoor environment. This condition is supported by the using of floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors on its three sides. This also encourages the natural daylighting, minimizing needs of energy for lighting in sunny day. The beautiful and dramatic view of the rock ledge, red rock boulder formations, snow-capped mountains, and endless desert also become an advantage. The sustainable construction has two bedrooms, two and a half baths, a pool. Some sustainable features are provided, such as an energy-efficient HVAC system, dual-pane windows/doors, energy efficient appliances, etc. Open plan design was adopted. There is a guest wing with an exercise room that opens to the view of boulder formations on one side and the mountains on the other. Prefab concept will also minimize the land disturbances during the construction time, and minimizing the waste also.
