Sustainable Design of Souler House by Jason Peacock Posted: 20 Jun 2012 06:58 AM PDT Souler House is a sustainable house. It was designed and built by Jason Peacock of Platinum Green. This is the first finished sustainable green building of a solar-powered cluster plan, which is located in Wiscasset, northeast of Portland, Maine.
The sustainable building design involved the use of Kyocera photovoltaic panel system to produce sustainable energy for the house. This system may provide surplus energy during the spring, summer, and fall to be used during the winter, especially for the heating system, etc. This house is also completed with a high-efficiency wood stove in the living room. This sustainable construction was built by using sustainable materials, such as zero-VOC and formaldehyde-free finishes and materials, built-ins made from sunflower board and bamboo ply, etc. Heat Recovery Ventilation system is also available. The designer is renting this green building from $700 – $1000 per week, depending on the season. The cluster itself will consist of four to six other homes with sun as the energy source. |
