Green Architecture of Vail Residence in Georgia Posted: 05 Jun 2012 07:41 AM PDT Vail Residence, a house of Lisa Vail, was designed by Jordan Williams of plexus r+d. It is a contemporary sustainable home, also a Hansgrohe showcase house. Some sustainable features were used to provide high sustainability.
This eco construction has good insulated 2×6 wall construction, aluminum clad wood windows with low E4 glazing to conserve energy. This system also is supported by an Energy Star roof (R60), Energy Star appliances, and a Mitsubishi Mr Slim ductless heat pump system. Alternative energy source is provided by a 3.8 kW Suniva photovoltaic array. Some environmentally friendly building materials are also used for this sustainable architecture building, such as a lime-based stucco, non-VOC paint, fiber-cement lab siding, strand-woven Dasso bamboo floors, countertops from recycled materials, etc. drought tolerant landscape and water saving appliances are also provided, supported by open cell driveway pavers, to conserve water. This green architecture home was certified Platinum under the EarthCraft House program. |
