Sustainable Design of Belgravia Green House Posted: 09 Apr 2012 07:43 PM PDT This is a showhouse built by Effect Home Builders, located in Belgravia neighborhood of Edmonton. This house actually is a sustainable house, with net-zero energy. With its sustainable features, this house may provide high energy efficiency, and reducing the need of fossil fuel.
This project is aimed to provide a sustainable architecture building house with stylish and modern design, supported with ultra energy efficiency, and energy-neutral system. This house is actually part of a larger Belgravia Green project involving two additional Net Zero Ready homes. This eco construction‘s foundation is provided from Plasti-Fab ICF foundation with EPS (R41). It has also a Nascor wall system, combined with 12″ of CFC-free expanded polystyrene (R48). It’s windows are triple pane, contain 3 coats of of Low-E film, argon gas filled glazing, and insulation between panes. It is also supported also by Heat Recovery Ventilation system. To provide alternative energy source, photovoltaic panels are used (a 12 kW system with 58 modules). South facing windows also provide maximum gain of natural heating and lighting, and stored by the concrete materials. Geothermal system is also available for heating source, supported by electric baseboard heating and air source heat pump.
