Sustainable Design of Kiwi House by Comma-Q Posted: 06 Apr 2012 07:38 AM PDT This green architecture design of Kiwi House was made by Comma-Q. This 823 sq ft house, a tiny house, is located in Bozeman, Montana, owned by Stephen and Julie Shea. It was constructed on an infill lot, with several materials taken from local area, completed with some sustainable features.
This eco construction is actually a living prototype for a second home that want to be owned by the owners. A soapstone fireplace is provided as the heart of the house, spreading warmth from the open kitchen and the living area. The sustainable architecture building was built by using some local materials, such as locally-sourced Montana stones, reclaimed redwood, and metal. It has photovoltaic panels as the alternative energy source, and to minimize the energy bills. To maximize the panels’ performance, the house is also oriented to the sun. Insulation is also provided to create a high efficiency of energy system. This sustainable home should support an active lifestyle, with its minimum size and provide minimum maintenance also. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
