Lefay House, A Sustainable House at Hollywood Hills by Air Architecture Posted: 13 Mar 2012 09:39 PM PDT A beautiful, sustainable house was designed and built by Francois Perrin from Air Architecture, an architectural firm from Los Angeles. This eco construction is located on one of the last buildable site on Hollywood Hills, sunken to the earth. Supported by its eco construction and design, this house may provide high energy efficiency.
This sustainable architecture building is a four-story terraced house. The location is a very steep land but mostly constituted of Bedrock. The house sinks into the steep, to help maintaining the temperature, by utilizing the earth’s characteristic. Natural ventilation and the orientation of the sustainable home were considered to provide fit temperature of the house and the view. The orientation was set to the north and south (with the hill to the north and the west). By this, the western hill slope will provide shading for the house in the harsh sunlight afternoon. The natural ventilation may provide good air circulation, so it does not need any air conditioners.
The construction of this eco friendly building may provide high energy efficiency and may create a good mixture to the surroundings. The facilities provided for the inhabitants may provide pleasure and fun also.
