A Sustainable Design of Tiburon Bay House By Butler Armsden Posted: 12 Dec 2011 11:12 PM PST A pair of green-enthusiasts have dream to have a new house with sustainable building design in San Fransisco. They asked Butler Armsden to realize their dream. And here it is, The Tiburon Bay House. This green architecture building is one of the first ever custom house that can achieve LEED-H Platinum Certification. With all of its sustainable features, modern design, this house is really enchanting.
This beautiful sustainable building design takes place on a cliff side, north side of Tiburon Peninsula. There used to be a dilapidated home structure, and the construction team chose to deconstruct the house, and reused / recycled the 95% materials of it. There were 10 tons of building lumber to stones from the foundation that were used for walls. This minimized the new materials needed, and of course minimized the construction waste. The floor plan of this sustainable construction is centralized around the staircase that connected each floor. By this, the rooms will be set on spiral way, and may take advantages of air circulation, natural lighting, and good surrounding view. This plan will also minimize the circulation for people and utility. There is a garden also for outdoor space connected to the house by an exterior bridge that also acts as outdoor living space. To fulfill the energy needs, the house uses renewable energy served by solar panels at the roof. Water reclamation system is also available. Each room is completed with glass sliding door to encourage the natural light and maximize the view. With all of green features and beautiful view, this sustainable house should can realize the dream of the owners and may be an inspiration to us of having a beautiful, modern, eco friendly house. |
