Green House Design of The Frame House by Marc Boutin Posted: 24 Mar 2011 10:12 PM PDT This incredible green house design was made by the home architect, Marc Boutin, named The Frame House. Like its name, this sustainable house tries to frame the beautiful view of the landscape, where the house is laid, in Invermere, British Columbia. A lot of green design theories are applied to create a perfect mixture of sustainability, contemporary design, and beautiful view.
The green home building was designed as a house for a young family, consists of 5 occupants. The shape is very simple, just like a huge wooden box, with 3 bedrooms for the kids, all of the service spaces for the house, such as kitchen, washrooms, laundry rooms, and storage on the main floor. The master bedroom and ensuite bathroom are located on the mezzanine level. There are also outdoor patio, swimming pool, and outdoor hot tub. The indoor area and outdoor area are connected by 18 ft glass sliding door, creating a thin boundary between them. The sustainable design of this house involves the passive house strategies and the uses of green products. Passive building strategies can provide reduction of the supplemental lighting and heating’s needs as it will provide them from the nature, the sun. The southeast part of this house is opened, by the existing of an operable glazed façade, allowing the sunlight to enter the house on day time, also extend the house into its surroundings. The Northwest side of the house is covered by a controlled, opaque façade, which is also where the main entry to the house is located. Beside in order to protect the house from sun overheating, the use of different glazing types may provide dramatic feeling for the person entered to the house, where the opaque glazing, will hide the view and at the same time, after entering the house, he/she will see the beautiful view on the other side. Beside the passive house strategies, the green products used in this sustainable home design, such as solar thermal water heating system, geothermal field, also natural ventilation provides fresh air for the entire house. The green house design really can provide a good mixture between sustainability and beautiful view. It really creates a frame effect for the inhabitants, framing the beautiful pictures provided by the surroundings. The sustainability also help the house to keep the environment far from pollutions. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ref 1 2 |
