Green Home Design of Prefab ARKit House Posted: 19 Dec 2010 01:20 AM PST ARKit is a series of prefab building for housing designed by considering the sustainable home design concepts. ARKit is designed by Craig Chatman Architect from Australia. ARKit has 2 types, the F Series or S Series, depend on place to built the house, factory or on site.
ARKit was designed to be built using several environmentally friendly products. The structure was created from timber, designed as wall panel system and achieves a high degree thermal performance. The external cladding is made from Western Red Cedar, provides resistance to decay, insect, and moisture. The internal wall lining of the panel are made from premium grade of certified plywood, with a clear and hard wearing finish. The green construction is fully isolated, completed with air pockets to provide both thermal and weather barrier. All materials used here were considered very carefully, using special life cycle analysis software to minimize the project’s environmental footprint. In order to create a perfect green home design, each ARKit house is designed considering some green design concepts, such as natural lighting, natural ventilation, minimal energy uses, renewable energy resources, water management system, etc. The house can be completed by solar panels or wind power system for the energy sources. The house also can be completed with grey water recycle system. The roof is designed to capture and collect rainwater as clear water source. All of materials used are low-VOC. The F-series are the full factory constructed and assembled type. They can be transported using truck. The S-series are the on-site assembled type. All of types are designed as modular homes, so people can customize their size and functions. The F-series dwelling has 50 sq m area with 1 bedroom, while the S-series dwelling is completed with 1-3 bedrooms. ARKit can be a perfect choice for people who want to have a beautiful dwelling with eco friendly design. |
