Exotic House Design by Benjamin Garcia Saxe Posted: 23 Nov 2010 12:11 AM PST This project is called “A Forest for A Moon Dazzler”, created by Benjamin Garcia Saxe for his mother in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. This exotic house has won first prize in the private house category at this year’s World Architecture Festival held in Barcelona.
The structure of this house is very unique, consists of bamboo materials, arranged in such way to create surface. They also has pivot mechanism to close or open as each bamboo part is connected to the other in an axis. This configuration is then combined to create wall, door, and roof. The configuration of the bamboo make possibility on providing good view to the sky from the room at night, by opening the bamboo configuration at the cone-like roof. The house is hovered from the land. The materials used for the house dominantly are bamboo and wooden materials. The house has simple layout of bedroom, kitchen, internal courtyard / garden. There is second roof to cover the bamboo roof. About 4,000 pieces of bamboo are used. With this configuration, the house will have good natural ventilation and provides good air circulation. The bamboo mechanism will also protect the house from direct sunlight if needed. The construction will give natural feeling for the inhabitant. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
