Polyhedron Pod Design by Manuel Villa Arquitecto Posted: 21 Nov 2010 12:52 AM PST Sometimes, people need another place instead of their own house to have several private activities, like reading favorite books, watching television, etc. Manuel Villa Arquitecto designed a unique shape pod, the polyhedron pod, for a couple with their newborn son at their backyard, in Bogota.
Painted in black color for the exterior, this pod is seen like a futuristic object in the backyard. The entrance part consists of a wooden deck, glassed wall (or window ?) and glassed door, completed with steel structure. The glassed surface can provide good natural lighting at daylight. The exterior itself is covered by honeycomb-patterned skin. It feels like a space pod used for moon landing. The interior of the pod was designed with build-in furniture, like desk, shelving, cupboard, and a bench. The wall is still in its natural, made from untreated teak material. Two small windows complete the pod, providing better air flow and natural lighting. A skylight is also provided for optimal natural lighting. |
