Modern Summer House Design by PK Arkitektar Posted: 16 Nov 2010 05:24 PM PST A modern summer house design, Munkasteinn, was design by PK Arkitektar. This house is located in Þingvellir National Park, between Þingvallavatn lake, the largest natural lake of Iceland, and the Almannagjá canyon.
The location of the house provides beautiful scenery for the house. The lake is located at the front side of the house, which is completed by several big glass windows to provide optimum view. This house is hidden by a cluster of pine trees, makes it cannot be seen by thousands of park visitors. The 90 sq m house hovers over the irregular landscape and touches the ground in few points. It is clad by some corrugated metal and wooden plates, especially at the entrance part and the back parts. A cantilevered roof is provided at the entrance to protect from rain and sunlight. This house also has wooden deck that creates a good fusion with the surroundings. The interior is dominated by white color and wood cladding. The white colored kitchen shares with the dinning room in the same room. The living room can be converted to extra sleeping room, providing extra capacity for this house. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Photo by Rafael Pinto |
