Modern and Minimalist Concept of Table and Chair by Konstantin Achkov Posted: 11 Jun 2010 08:40 PM PDT Konstantin Achkov is a designer, born in Sofia. He created a modern and minimalist concept of table and chair that has ability of self-transforming in short and high setup.
VECTOR and ROTOR designs have ability to transform their form from the short setup to the high setup by rotating around its horizontal axis. This ability is provided by the part called "Ferris wheel". To support this ability, some tense springs are used so user can do the adjustment to the terrain. On ROTOR type, the support bars are set on parallel configuration. On VECTOR type, the construction is changed by turning the support bars at 45 degrees angle. Flexible, transparent and light materials are used, give the minimalist effect to the design.

Cutler Residence by Murdock Young Posted: 11 Jun 2010 07:18 PM PDT This is Cutler Residence, designed by Murdock Young. It is designed to be used as a year round vacation house located on a bluff overlooking Block Island Sound. Its location, bordered by sea, wetlands, and woods, provides beautiful views. The house is designed to have minimal impact on the pristine landscape. Some considerations, such as the sunlight effect, breezes, and views were taken on every space design. The house was conceived as a lens, continually framing and magnifying the subtle changes in the surrounding environment. This house has “L” shape, with two main parts on it. The public part consists of two indoor/outdoor zones on two levels. The upper floor houses the kitchen, dining area, living area and a deck. This section of the house is cantilevered over the hillside and offers the most panoramic views. The downstairs includes the family room, outdoor living room, pool and sun bathing deck. The other part is the private wing, which is two-story bedroom wing. There are four modest bedrooms facing the views, two of which convert to a single room for guests with children. |
