The buildings frame an intimate courtyard and allow the rugged site to embrace the house and maximize ocean views. It is built in the tradition of other Barton Myers steel houses with its exposed structural frame, overhead roll-up doors that integrate outdoor spaces, concrete floors, exposed decks, and the addition of infill insulated metal panels for the enclosure. Some sustainable features are also available. The house is cooled by cross ventilation. There are large operable sectional glass doors, sliding doors and window that can be operated quickly to adjust the climate conditions and the comfortable condition inside the house. For the radiant heat system, they use solar collector panels. The other sustainable features are highly efficient boilers, photovoltaic panels and an Energy-Star rated "cool" roof. The residence continues the exploration of industrial materials integrated with the natural landscape. |
