IRWD CALscape Workshops Available Soon Posted: 29 Jan 2014 04:00 AM PST As I wrote previously, California has had quite a few years of below average rainfall. And our current forecast for increased precipitation is not good. In fact, Governor Brown recently made it official: California is in a drought. IRWD is offering some classes that can help us all reduce our outdoor water use. The key to this program, CALscape, is to use the right plants, water schedule, and equipment for our location. Here are the details: I’ll end with some words to ponder: "We continue to run California as if the longest drought we are ever going to encounter is about seven years. We're living in a dream world."--Scott Stine, professor of geography and environmental studies at Cal State East Bay |
