Sustainable Building Bloc10 From Sustainable Materials Posted: 22 Oct 2012 08:42 PM PDT A sustainable building of apartments was designed by 5468796 Architecture. This is actually a prefab building made from sustainable materials, and can be completed for only 12 months. With its unique arrangement, just like a 3D puzzle, this condo project may provide different experience of living. This eco construction is located in a site where formerly was used by by a gas station in Winnipeg's River Heights neighborhood. This project was designed  for Green Seed Developments who wanted modestly priced building that could be completed within 12 months. By this, prefab concept was chosen, and done in nearby factory, so the construction schedule can be accelerate. The sustainable building has 10 apartments  with three level, vary from studios to 3-bedroom units. The arrangement is very unique, as they cross from one side of the building to the other. The  result is  an interlocking layout for each unit, provide view from  the north and south, where 3 of the apartments have views in three directions. Sustainable materials were used to build this green architecture bulding, such as sustainably harvested wood materials from local sources. The exterior of this building acts as screen that may provide privacy and shading, but still provide views and daylighting. To provide flexibility, owners will buy the green architecture of apartment in unfinished unit with basic plumbing, heating and electrical systems. They may decide the interior’s finishing, and also the rooms’ function just like their needs. ref
