Sustainable Design of Seal Rocks House by Bourne Blue Architecture Posted: 11 Sep 2012 10:33 PM PDT Seal Rocks House 4 is a sustainable home designed by Bourne Blue Architecture, located in Seal Rocks beach, on the east coast of New South Wales in Australia. This house was designed as a easy-maintaining home with some sustainable features involved.
This eco construction beach house is designed simple, square shape with large open courtyard in the middle. It has one bathroom, a big shower, one living space, also some rooms opened to the courtyard, connected by sliding glass doors. This will maximize the outdoor activity spaces without forgetting the privacy. This also can provide natural ventilation and natural daylighting. This green architecture house is designed to provide minimum maintenance and easy to be cleaned. The exterior is fire proof and made from durable materials. The design also considered the rules in the area about Local area fire restrictions, to have a 10 meter setback to the rear, a fire fence, a flame zone and level 3 bushfire protection. There are some sustainable features applied for this sustainable home building. A rainwater collection system can provide water source for house’s needs and also for fire protection by using sprinklers. There is also black water processing system. For sustainable energy, 1.5 kW grid-tied rooftop solar panel is provided to produce electricity. |
