Avant Garage, A Green Architecture Project in Fishtown Proper Posted: 31 Aug 2012 10:00 AM PDT Avant Garage is a sustainable housing project created by Postgreen Homes in Fishtown Proper. The design was made by Interface Studio Architects, involving some sustainable features to provide high sustainability. The project is projected to achieve LEED Platinum.
The project consists of four eco constructions used for houses completed with a garage for each house. Each house also has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, with some sustainable features. Each house’s garage is full-pass through type and doors on both ends. Now three units have already been sold, with the garages functioned also as entertainment spaces for neighbor, such as for arcade and music room, backyard movie theater, etc. Some sustainable features that are provided for this sustainable home buildings, such as very good insulation from 12″ double-stud walls with dense pack cellulose, extreme air sealing from ZIP System sheathing and tape, triple-pane windows, HRV system, Air-to-Air heat pump, green roof, rainwater collection system, etc. It also uses low VOC paints. With all of their features, there are no doubts that these sustainable buildings should receive the LEED Platinum certification. |
