Sustainable Design of Equinox House by Ignatov Architects Posted: 14 Feb 2012 11:40 PM PST A sustainable house was designed by Ignatov Architects in Bulgaria. It was designed with some aspects to create a good fusion between the land, human, light, and the environment. This house is completed with unique sloped big windows to maximize the sun lighting. Passive design was really considered.
This sustainable architecture building is located near the shore and close to the town Kavarna in Bulgaria. It was located in a steep hill, to lower its profile. To create a good mixture feeling with the environment, a vegetated roof and natural stonework are provided. The sloped big window is provided to control the sun light and heat that enter the house. Passive design is provided, so the heat from the sun will be captured by the high performance triple-glazed windows, and stored by the concrete of the eco construction. The heat will be released gradually at night. At summer, the angled upper windows will block the solar heat, while a sunshade will protect the lower story and add the poolside shade. The temperature is also controlled, thanks to the insulation applied. To reduce environmental footprint, this green architecture house is also completed with alternative energy source, such as solar thermal panels and a ground-source heat pump as heat source. Water is provided by rainwater catchment system for domestic use, and a bio active wastewater treatment system for irrigation water provider. |
