Sustainable Design of Four-cornered Villa by Avanto Architects Posted: 05 Jan 2012 09:00 PM PST The sustainable design of Four-cornered Villa was made by Avanto Architecs. This sustainable architecture building is located in the wilderness of Finland, sits on a horseshoe-shaped island. By its cross shape, the view of four different sides can be maximize. Some sustainable features are provided to achieve low carbon footprint.
The exterior of this sustainable green building is dominated with black color to make a good blend with the surrounding forest. The dark color also makes the house disappear totally when seen from the lake. It has flat roof design. The interior of this green architecture design is dominated with white color, very contrast compared to the exterior. This will help the reflection of sun light through the entire space. Most of the furniture are handmade or from reuse furniture. Wood materials are dominated, where spruce is for the ceilings and walls, pine is for the floors. They are finished with a Wood Wax Finish in white from Osmo.
Some sustainable features are provided for this eco construction. This house is powered by some alternative energy sources, such as sun (via solar panels) for electricity, wood (via wood fireplace) for heating, There is no running water, the water is from what the available stock on-site. Great insulation provides a good protection from heat losses. Vegetable and herbs are cultivated on-site, and used for food sources, besides the fish caught from the lake. This eco friendly construction will provide a fantastic experience of enjoying natural life. |
