The Eco Construction of Ruby Springs Prefab House Posted: 08 Sep 2011 09:20 PM PDT A sustainable prefab home was designed and built by Medicine Hat Inc in southwestern Montana's Ruby Valley. It is called Ruby Springs Prefab House. It has modern design, and was built to deal with the natural resources and dramatic view in the location.
This sustainable home was designed to have good adaptation with the environment. It should can be adjusted towards the sunlight exposure, also the weather. That’s why it has a great feature, operable, hydraulic screens made by utilizing Caterpillar excavator cylinders and tractor parts. These screens can be adjusted to adjust the transparency of the building and also to protect the house from overexposure of direct sun light. There are also exterior sliding barn doors which may also provide filtering feature and controlling the transparency of the house. This 1,888 sq ft modular eco friendly construction was completed by several sustainable features to maximize its sustainability and minimize its footprint. For the heat source, it has ground-source geothermal system. It is also completed by photovoltaic panels as alternative energy source. The other is the use of environmentally friendly building materials, such as reclaimed Douglas fir for exterior screens, interior trim, doors, and trim, low-E Loewen windows and doors, cork flooring, and low-VOC paints and textiles. This modern, beautiful, sustainable prefab house, once again, may provide a proof the sustainability of prefab house. Prefab process also may decrease the environmental disturbance during the construction phase.
