Green Home Building Design by Taller 13 Posted: 11 Jan 2011 08:37 PM PST Taller 13, a Mexico architects firm, designed a green home building / apartment. With a lot of sustainable features, the apartment building looks great and beautiful and provides an environmentally friendly housing. This apartment building was designed, inspired by the large shady trees of the Colonia del Valle neighborhood. This green building consists of 7 apartments with split levels. The views are set to face the street and the quiet interior courtyard. The building also provides places for the residents to grow their own food crops on the terraces. On the roof, this building is completed with a bamboo structure, large enough to create a large green rooftop and balconies for the plants growing place. Several environmentally friendly products are used to provide a green living condition. It uses solar water heating system, certified wood materials, and non-toxic paint. This building is also completed with rainwater collector to provide water. Waste management system is also involved to create a green home design. The design of this building becomes the most interesting thing, as it can optimize the use of the materials and the ability to withstand on seismic activity. The form and the configuration of the concrete beams is configured in such way, like a tree limb configuration, creating strengths for the building. Each apartment is isolated by strawbales to improve privacy. Also the present of central patio creates cross ventilation and temperature control for the building, completing the green house design concepts. This sustainable building is located in Mexico City and completed in September 2010. |
